Packing up for the Sunny Paradise

your wonderful Moroccan experience

Packing up for the Sunny Paradise
T
ravellers that book their shared desert tour from Marrakech always ask us for advice on what to bring with them on a Morocco desert tour. We will try to address this question in detail in the course of this blog and any other doubts that might arise.

Every morning, around 7 AM, our team of tour guides and drivers pick up our guests from their riads and hotels in Marrakech. From there, we will normally depart to start our desert tour from Marrakech. We always try to cater to your needs be it a 3 day group trip to Zagora from Marrakech or a budget shared 2 day tour to Merzouga, or a shared 7 days Moroccan desert experience combining both Zagora and Merzouga including the Paris-Dakar Rally 4×4 experience.

Feel free to bring your luggage with you on the desert tour, it will stay safe in our minibus, 4×4 Jeep or in our hostel before arriving to the desert. You don’t need to bring luggage with you to the desert camp if you wish to, but if you’re returning to the same hotel after your desert tour, we recommend that you leave it in the hotel storage room for your comfort.

A small traveller bag or backpack should be enough for you to store your belongings during your tour and will allow you to enjoy of the space in your luxury tent in Erg Chebbi dunes or Zagora desert.

Travellers joining us also ask us what to wear on their desert trip.  The answer is: during the summer time wear light clothes with a jumper (especially for the High Atlas Mountain combined tour with the Desert tour). In winter, wear warm clothes, as the desert is very cold at that period of the year.

A sleeping bag is not required in our trips, as we take care of your stay in Marrakech with arrangements of proper bedding and warm blankets in the Moroccan desert camp to keep you warm.

The desert Sahara camp has common toilets and in some cases basic shower facilities as well as a power generator, which is turned off when everybody is asleep. We recommend that you bring torches and some wet towels for your comfort during your desert trip.

Occasionally, your desert adventure might coincide with a sand storm in Merzouga or Zagora, and for that reason, sunglasses are highly recommended to protect your eyes from the sand. A scarf (you can buy one on your way to the desert) will help you protect your hair, ears and nose from the sand during your camel ride in Erg Chebbi and Zagora.

Sun protection, phones and the battery chargers should not be forgotten neither. Also, definitely bring a camera and plenty of battery to take with you a longlasting memory of your adventure with us.

Finally, we believe that a good preparation for your desert tour is essential for a memorable tour experience. For that reason, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
